Book of Wizard Double Chance Review
3 Oaks have 4 previous Book slots under their belt, and Magic Ball Multichance with up to 9 expanding symbols and a 10,000x potential was their latest effort before Book of Wizard Double Chance. None of their previous installments have been particularly successful, and we’re unsure if decreasing the potential and the number of expanding symbols will do the trick.
You get a fairly standard ‘Book of’ mechanic experience in this game, and per usual, the base game is mostly a grind with smaller top-up payouts once in a while. Eligible players (not UK) can purchase the bonus round for 100x the stake, and it comes with 2 chosen expanding symbols instead of the usual 1. The 6,000x potential is a bit higher than what’s become the norm for these kinds of games, and we had an overall decent time testing Book of Wizard Double Chance.

Book of Wizard Double Chance Features
The Book serves double duty as both wild and scatter, which is not uncommon in the book slot genre. As a wild, it steps in for all regular pay symbols to help you complete winning combos, and it’s also the most valuable symbol in the game. 5 of a kind awards 500x your stake, same as the Wizard, while the 3 remaining premiums pay either 75x or 200x your stake for the same.
As a scatter, the Book pays 2, 20 or 200 x your stake for 3, 4 or 5 anywhere in view, and this also triggers the Bonus Round with 10 free spins for starters. The book opens up, and 2 pay symbols will be chosen randomly. Many times you will get 1 premium and 1 royal symbol as the special expanding symbols, but not always.
Either way, the chosen symbols become the special expanding scatter win symbols for the duration of the bonus round. Premiums pay for 2 to 5 on different reels, and these expand to cover the full reel after any regular payouts have been summed up. Royals pay for 3 to 5 symbols in the same manner, and the 2 chosen symbols will take turns expanding and paying if you land enough of both. Landing 3+ scatters retriggers the feature with 10 extra spins added to your tally.
Non-UK players, and anyone living in an eligible jurisdiction, can purchase the bonus round for 100x the total stake. This guarantees at least 3 scatters on the spin that follows, which starts you off with a scatter win of at least 2x your stake. Land 5 scatters, and you can even afford an extra round “for free”.
The 200 Spins Book of Wizard Double Chance Experience
Nothing too exciting happened for us in the base game, but you get to see a few wins. You can safely skip to the 1:11-minute mark however, as this is when we purchase the bonus round. We got a decent “4 scatters discount”, and the Goblet and ‘K’ symbols became our chosen “companions” in the feature. See it all for yourself by hitting the play button below!
Review Summary
This is not the first Book-style effort from Booongo, and it’s a bit surprising that they went with a reduced 6,000x potential in a release with the subtitle “double chance”. Several of their previous releases came with up to 9 special symbols, and a 10,000x potential. Not that it helped all that much in terms of popularity, but ‘double chance’ should mean a chance to win 2 x 5,000x “in our book”.
Outside of that, the gameplay is smooth and fast-paced with the turbo switched on, and getting 2 expanding symbols in the bonus round is more fun than only 1. The 6,000x potential is better than many Ra clones, but there is nothing here that will truly “wow” experienced players. It’s a decent installment in the ‘Book of’ genre, and it will be interesting to see if it catches on more than their previous efforts.
Pros
- High value Book wild/scatter
- FS w/ 2 special expanding symbols
- Win up to 6,000x your stake
Cons
- Not enough here to rock the boat
If you enjoy Book of Wizard Double Chance you should also try:
Ghost of Dead – is an interesting installment in Play’n Go’s ‘book of’ range, and you can look forward to randomly triggered ghost spins with a chosen expanding symbol. Choose 1 of 3 random symbols when the bonus round is triggered, and get 1 extra expanding symbol in the Awakened tier. The max win is 10,000x.
Rise of Merlin – is a Play’n Go ‘book of’ mechanic installment that centers around the famous medieval wizard. The big twist is that you get 1 additional expanding symbol every time you retrigger the bonus round. This can lead to all 9 symbols awarding expanded scatter wins, and you can win up to 5,000x your stake.
Book of Oz – is a somewhat popular Triple Edge Studios ‘book slot’ installment, and it revolves around the wizard of Oz. The twist is that you can respin all reels individually as many times as you like, but not for free. The bonus round comes with a chosen expanding symbol, and you can win up to the standard 5,000x your stake.
Book of Gold Double Chance – is an exciting slot game by Playson that enhances the classic gameplay by offering two special expanding symbols during the free spins round. This feature significantly boosts the potential for big wins and adds an extra layer of thrill to the experience.
